About Sunday Power

Sunday Power’s mission is to accelerate the energy transition with smart renewable energy. Our ambition is to be the world’s most efficient company in originating, deploying, and operating solar PV assets and other renewable solutions for commercial real estate. We’re using this position to build great software that solves real needs and offers it as a stand-alone product.

We are a small but dedicated team (currently 15 people) working out of our brand-new offices in central downtown Oslo. We’re very proud of what we’ve achieved so far:

• We have signed and deployed more than 70 large-scale solar plants across Norway.
• Raised more than 100MNOK of capital.
• Top Finalist European Proptech Awards 2024.

What Sunday Power is Building

Today, our tech team includes our CPO, CTO, and four developers, working together to build impactful technology tailored to the rapidly evolving solar market. We're committed to developing solutions that not only help manage our assets but also set us apart by being marketable to other companies. This approach ensures we continually innovate and provide technology that accelerates the green transition, whether we're sourcing the right solutions or building them ourselves.

So far, we´ve built

• SundayOS - our own SaaS platform for monitoring and optimizing solar assets.
• SundayBox - our very own IoT edge computer.
• Our very own data platform.

We’ve built this using tech like

• AWS cloud platform.
• F# for backend development.
• Typescript (React, Node, TanStack, shadcn).
• Python, pandas, and Databricks.

The Position: IoT Engineer

As our IoT Engineer you’d work on all our IoT needs. We have our own edge-computer, SundayBox, that collects data from our sites and lets us control inverters. There’s still a lot more we want to do with it, and we’re currently investing heavily in making the whole pipeline more scalable. The addition of new units, like batteries and EV-chargers, will also require new developments.

You´ll work on some, or all, of

• Development of our current, and future, versions of SundayBox.
• Rolling out and managing a fleet of edge computers.
• Integrating our tech with new hardware brands, and new types of units.
• Supply chain for our edge computing needs.

The Candidate Profile: Who We Are Looking For

We believe you as someone who aspires to be an all-around IoT expert, thriving in startup environments where independence and self-motivation are crucial. You enjoy managing a diverse range of tasks and appreciate a dynamic workplace that keeps you engaged with various challenges. Additionally, your interest in working on climate initiatives would be a valuable asset.

Key qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience with hardware, backend, or infrastructure software development.
• Interest in managing portfolios of units - edge computers, servers, infrastructure.
• Interest in working on an end-to-end product involving hardware, software, and cloud infrastructure.
• Interest in being hands-on with product rollout and implementation in the field.
• Excitement about working with cutting-edge renewable energy technologies.

It´s also considered a bonus if you have:

• Professional, or hobby, experience in hardware development or design.
• System administration experience.
• Building (or other) automation tech and protocols.
• Experience in start-up environments. 
• A university degree in a related field. 
• Related domain knowledge - solar, batteries, EV, power markets, proptech.
